This problem is probably happening because the wrong POP3 server is running. To fix this, follow these instructions:
1) Login to your Linux box via SSH as root.
2) Run the following command:
vi /etc/xinetd.d/popa3d
3) Locate the line ‘disable = no’.
4) Change the line to read ‘disable = yes’.
